Getting Crafty

Hi,
This is Jennifer, guest blogging again. This time I'm getting crafty with a menu board I have wanted to make for a while now and have had time since its been Christmas break.
I have always been one to make a menu for the weeks supper plans but it usually is written on scratch paper and not very pretty. I like to make a menu for the week. It helps answer the question "what's for dinner"(asked by the husband) and I only have to go to the store once a week.
I saw the idea off the site that sucks all my time out of my day and makes me wish for a lot of things. (you know which one!!)

Supply List:
12X18 tin sheet (hobby lobby)
7 round craft magnets
scrapbook paper of your choice
bottle caps (you can buy already painted if you like)
paint
mod podge
letter stickers
embellishments of your choice
hot glue gun
scissors
ribbon for hanging
drill for ribbon holes or a handy husband that will do it for ya!

First I decided on a color scheme by looking at my scrapbook paper and cut to fit how I wanted it arranged on my tin sheet.

I mod podged the paper onto tin, and let dry then did another coat. While that was drying I painted my bottle caps. They didn't turn out like I wanted them but I went with it. I also made 3 paper pockets. Two small ones of the same size to put strips of paper in for menu items and one medium sized to hold my grocery list.

My husband drilled holes at the top so it can hang with ribbon.
When everything was dry I used sticker letters to put on saying on the top. I thought it was cute!!

I saw this metal ribbon at Hobby Lobby and thought it was so neat and had to use it on my menu. Here is a close up. I hot glued it on. I think it adds a cool touch.

To finish it up I taped my pockets on and cut strips to use for menu items. One pocket is for blank strips and the other pocket is for frequently used menu items. I can just save them instead of having to re-write them each time. And put the ribbon on for hanging. I also put a letter in each bottle cap for the days of the week.

Now I have a pretty menu I can proudly display!!

This is my dog Gemma. She wondered what I had been doing all day and didn't like that I wasn't paying any attention to her so I had to snap a pic!!

Thanks Destinie for letting me guest blog!!
